Types of Disability
A sudden injury can cause a physical disability. These types of disability can be serious enough to affect an individual’s income stream, as they are no longer capable of work. Treatments for such injuries include physical therapies of various kinds. These physical therapies can also be applied to other conditions which can in turn delay the onset of these conditions. For example, any wasting disease that causes the atrophying of muscle could possibly be delayed in terms of its effects on the body through courses of physical therapy that keep the muscles stronger than would otherwise be the case.
When it comes to types of disability, if you do not pay for a salary protection element in your insurance scheme at work or through your pension provider, you may lose a great deal in terms of the quality of your life if you become disabled. Worse than this is the fact that you may have to make adjustments to the home. For example, you may have to make your home wheelchair accessible. This is itself an expense that may be difficult to pay for. It is therefore in general a good idea if you are working to pay for a salary protection element in your insurance. This will result – in the unfortunate event that you become incapacitated – in the provision of a substantial portion of your salary, such as two thirds or three quarters – if you are out of work due to illness. Note too that your employer may not be able to afford to provide you with a salary while you are absent from work.
Other types of disability include emotional and psychological impairments, as well as disabilities that affect the senses such as hearing and sight. All of these can result in a loss in income.
